The Great British Skip - Skipping for Kindness.
Aug 18, 2026
At a time of truly dreadful news we all need to be reminded about the power of kindness and I with this in mind I want to introduce you to Krish who is skipping the length of the UK to raise awareness of kindness.
He is calling this the Breath British Skip.
Krish has a social enterprise called Tales to Inspire.he gatherers stories from people with extraordinary life experiences that are genuinely awesome. I have a story in there too however mine in comparison is rather dull and unremarkable as I talk about living through my experience grief. I can’t quite remember what i talked about other than coming to the conclusion of accepting that this is all part of lifestyle experience.
But I am writing to you to talk about more cheery things and to be honest with you it was hearing Krish’s news that has got me to write to you as I think we all need inspiring stories.
I am just going share Krish’s words to you.
Skip the length of Britain.
Over 900 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
Around 40 days on the road.
Thousands upon thousands of skips.
And hopefully one very powerful reminder that kindness is everywhere.
For those who have followed Tales to Inspire over the years, you’ll know that this challenge has never really been about the skipping.
The skipping rope might be what gets people to stop, stare, laugh or ask “Why on earth are you doing that?”
But The Great British Skip is a national campaign for kindness.
At a time when it can feel like we're hearing more about what divides us than what connects us, we want to spend the next 900 miles searching for something different.
The kindness already happening in our communities.
The neighbour checking in on someone who lives alone.
The teacher who went that little bit further for a child.
The stranger who stopped to help when nobody else did.
The community that rallied around someone going through the unimaginable.
The tiny gesture that someone else may have forgotten, but you never did.
Alongside collecting these stories, we're attempting to raise £520,000 for 52 Lives and their School of Kindness, helping them continue bringing kindness, empathy and compassion into primary schools across the UK.
Because this isn't only about celebrating the kindness happening today.
It's about helping build a kinder generation for tomorrow.

I just want to add that having read news letter from Dr Laurie Santos (the happiness lab pod cast) Titled
You’re Actually Not Bothering People Enough.
She reminds us of the joy we can bring to others by asking them to help us. I will leave that with you and maybe you can listen here.
One last thing, Lauris Santos also talks about the importance of time off and taking a sabbatical. Sometimes we might only be able to take a day off but its important that we prioritise being restful and not fill that day, week, or a sabbatical by being busy.
I have been very quiet for a few months. After going on a fasting retreat in June I have begun to live with less on every level. I will write more on this soon, especially about moving through hunger and boredom.
For now I have been prioritising having a lot less in my life and I am enjoying this. Ion fact it feels great, after a heavy year I am now feeling lighter. I do love to move things though and space clear, so perhaps its a new sort of there kind of busyness that I am enjoying. Change is good for us.
But like I said, more of that to come.
I really did want to share with you the Skipping for Kindness as it is truly inspiring.
